Yesterday New York City comptroller Brad Lander was arrested by ICE for demanding to see an arrest warrant as they detained people outside an immigration hearing.

ICE does not have the authority to arrest US citizens like Brad Lander.

Last week, Senator Alex Padilla was handcuffed and thrown to the ground by DHS for daring to question Secretary Kristi Noem.

A Democratic mayor and my colleague Rep. LaMonica McIver were both arrested by ICE at a protest, and LaMonica is now facing felony charges.

A judge in Wisconsin was arrested for protecting people from an outrageous courthouse ICE crackdown.

And dozens of student protest leaders have been detained by ICE indefinitely or deported simply for exercising their right to free speech.

Trump is an out of control authoritarian, and ICE is his personal police force.

They don’t identify themselves. They wear plain clothes. They hide themselves with masks. And they show up anywhere and everywhere to separate families, violently detain people, and enforce Donald Trump’s extremist policies on immigration.

If you understand how dangerous this is for our democracy, you have to continue to stand up and fight back. Because if we let this kind of conduct become normalized we will be on the fast-track to full fascism before too long.
