Every time Trump breaks the law, I’ll take him to court.
This past weekend was a reminder of both the strength and fragility of our democracy.
In our nation’s capital, Donald Trump threw a costly military parade — a goal of his for nearly a decade now, and not-so-coincidentally held on his own birthday. Tanks rolled down the streets of Washington, D.C. and helicopters flew overhead as a thin crowd looked on.
On the same day, millions of people in every corner of California and across the country came together at No Kings Day protests to peacefully, powerfully, and lawfully demand better.
These two events could not have been more different, but together they remind us just how much is at stake right now. We can stand by and allow our country to continue down a dangerous path into authoritarianism — or we can stand up and fight back, together.
Democracy thrives on engagement and dies in neglect. It’s a contact sport, which means we need you in the game, not on the sidelines.
If you believe our democracy is worth protecting, I urge you to continue speaking up and speaking out. Exercise your rights and demand change. Do it lawfully, peacefully, and safely — but do not stay silent.
As your Attorney General, here is what I will do:
Each and every time President Trump breaks the law or violates the Constitution, I will take him to court. Unapologetically, resolutely.
I will continue doing the job the people of California elected me to do: fighting for your rights, your freedoms, and your safety. And together, we can — and will — take a stand.
If you’re with me, consider making a contribution of any amount to my campaign, and let’s keep up the fight.
