John -
ICYMI: Donald Trump is at it again, and this time, he wants to bring back what he calls “beautiful, clean coal.”1 Yes, coal. In the year 2025.
He’s also ordering coal plants that were scheduled to close to stay open — just to prop up one of the dirtiest and deadliest industries in history.2 We’re running out of time to avert climate catastrophe, and Trump wants to waste what little time we have left on this?
Well John, we won’t sit idly by while decades of climate progress are stripped away, and we won’t allow Trump to drag us back to the 19th century.
Send a message to Congress today to make your voice heard: DON’T let Trump bring back coal.
Let’s be clear: Coal is filthy. Burning coal for energy pumps planet-warming and people-choking pollution into the air we breathe. It causes respiratory illness — especially in low-income, Black, Brown, and Native communities where coal plants are disproportionately built.
Coal also kills. Its pollution has killed nearly half a million people in the U.S. in the last two decades alone.3
Despite King Coal’s lies, we don’t need it. Coal used to power half the country — but today it’s down to just 16%, and we’re replacing it with clean, renewable energy like wind and solar.4
We’ve been fighting — and winning — the war against coal for years. 350.org supporters like you helped win a moratorium on new coal sales on public lands back in 2016, and we helped shut down the last coal plant in New England.
Because John, it’s simple: Coal is dirty, dangerous, and devastating to our communities. We won’t let Trump drag us back. Congress has the power to act — but only if they hear from you.
Send a message to Congress today and help build a safer climate for generations to come.
Let’s keep coal where it belongs — in the history books.
In solidarity,
Katrina Riley for 350.org
