 Earlier this week, Senate Republicans released their proposed updates to Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.” And believe it or not, they made it even worse. Deeper cuts to Medicaid. A smaller Child Tax Credit. More bureaucracy and paperwork. And higher health care costs for ALL Americans, not just those on Medicaid.
For months, we’ve heard Republicans go on and on about government efficiency. But this bill is the exact opposite of efficiency. Their legislation would cost the state of Colorado an extra $57 million every year! And the damage doesn’t stop there. These deep cuts and additional costs won’t just hurt the people who rely on Medicaid. They will drive up health care costs for everyone else too! Hospitals across Colorado, especially in rural areas, depend on Medicaid to keep their doors open and pay doctors and nurses. If that funding disappears, they’ll have no choice but to raise prices — making care and insurance more expensive for all of us. At a time when so many Coloradans are already struggling with the cost of living, Donald Trump is hell-bent on raising costs even more. And for what? Yet another massive tax handout to billionaires like him. It’s not just bad policy — it shows who Republicans are really working for. It shows us we need to kick out this negligent Republican majority and elect a Congress that fights for us — not Donald Trump and his billionaire friends.
