Potterville Man to Stand Trial for First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct

*LANSING* – Robert Lee Peters, 40, of Potterville, was recently bound over to stand trial in the 56th Circuit Court in Eaton County on four counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, potential life sentence offenses, announced Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. It is alleged that Peters sexually assaulted a minor who resided in the same Eaton Rapids home from 2018 to 2021.

Peters was charged by the Department of Attorney General in January after the victim disclosed the alleged sexual assault in 2023. This matter was investigated by the Michigan State Police.

“I commend the tremendous courage of the victim in coming forward,” Nessel said. “Sexual assault cases, especially those involving minors, can be exceptionally challenging. I would like to thank the Michigan State Police and prosecutors in my office for their dedication and hard work in ensuring this case moves forward to trial.”

Peters was bound over for trial on June 13 before Judge Adrianne K. Van Langevelde of the 56A District Court in Charlotte. He will next appear before the 56th Circuit Court on August 15.
