Today’s Supreme Court decision isn’t what we hoped for, but our fight continues.
Dear community,
Today, the Supreme Court issued its decision in LW v. Skrmetti, upholding Tennessee’s ban on some forms of gender-affirming care for trans youth. It’s not the outcome we hoped for, but trans youth and our communities are undeterred.
Let us be clear about what this decision does not do:
It does not create a blanket ban on gender-affirming care for youth. States that are providing gender-affirming care for youth can continue.
It does not impose a ban on gender-affirming care for adults.
It does not weigh in on whether trans people are protected under the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution.
In this moment, we are turning toward each other and toward action. Join our partners across the country as we come together to reflect, organize, and plan our next steps. The Proud and Free: United for Trans Powerrallies will be taking place across the country. More events will be added in the coming days.
We’ve always shown up for one another — with care, with connection, and with purpose. And we will again.
Until then, please take care of yourselves and each other:
