Today, with a new poll showing Charles Booker leading Amy McGrath by 8% in Kentucky's U.S. Senate Democratic primary, The Hill reports that progressive organizations including the PCCC, Sunrise Movement, The Collective, Working Families Party, and Indivisible are "calling on McGrath to donate her campaign war chest to Democratic efforts to defeat McConnell if she loses her primary next week."
Thousands of people donated to Amy McGrath before there was a competitive primary because they wanted to defeat McConnell and she was assumed to be the Democratic nominee. If she loses the primary, they still want their donations to go toward defeating Mitch McConnell. Not to bonuses for losing consultants. Not to her future campaigns.
And, click here to urge McGrath directly on Twitter.
This is still an uphill race. There is still a pandemic. Charles Booker is still fighting for every single vote. He very much needs our donations and our help calling voters this Get Out The Vote weekend.
Today's poll shows that Booker does 6 points better against McConnell than McGrath -- and McGrath's negative ratings are through the roof. Elizabeth Warren added to Booker's momentum.
People like Booker, and there's good reason for that. As a Black legislator whose cousins were killed by police, he's been front and center at the Black Lives Matter protests in Louisville. He is campaigning on Medicare for All and a Green New Deal. McGrath has been running on the absurd theory that the best way to defeat McConnell is to be more pro-Trump.
AOC, Bernie, Sunrise Movement, the PCCC, MoveOn, and both major papers in the state endorsed Charles Booker. The Lexington paper wrote:
So right now...
And call voters this weekend to Get Out The Vote.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
