When I first ran for office back in 2019, I ran on a platform of "Protect, Advocate, Legislate," but I never imagined how much we would still be fighting for our rights daily in 2025. More then ever, our California communities are being attacked by fascism, hatred, and values that put profits over people.

I will not stand for this. I never have and never will.

Fascism has no place in California.

This is why I am running to be your District 26 State Senator in California.

My name is Maebe Pudlo, I’m the three-term treasurer of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council and Operations Manager for SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. I've lived in Los Angeles for over 12 years.

Since June 6th, I.C.E. and Homeland Security have been targeting our immigrant communities in Los Angeles. They have been separating families, denying people of their rights, and attacking peaceful protestors. This cannot continue to happen. Los Angeles is a sanctuary city and we want people to feel safe to live, work, and thrive.

Protecting our immigrant community is one part of my platform. My goal has always been to have an intersectional approach in everything I do.

I’ve worked with people experiencing homelessness for over a decade, from volunteering at shelters to being the homeless liaison on the Neighborhood Council to now being the operations manager of SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition. I know that a compassionate, housing-first approach, with permanent supportive housing and permanent supportive services, is the only solution to this crisis. Universal healthcare would also go a long way in getting people back on their feet.

I’m also a drag queen—the first drag queen elected to public office in the US when I ran for Silver Lake Neighborhood Council in 2019. But while drag is what I do, trans is who I am. I am trans non-binary and my pronouns are she/her/they/them.

There are over 1.5 million trans people in the United States today, but there has never been a trans person elected to the California State Legislature. In a time when trans people and youth are being attacked by politicians all over the country, we need at least a modicum of representation in the halls of power to assert our humanity and affirm our right to exist.

We already have a strong base of support here in Senate District 26, which overlaps US Congressional District 30 where we earned over 60,000 votes against a 20-year incumbent in 2022. The voters here believed in this community-first campaign, and we now believe this State Senate is where we can make the most change for our community on a greater level.

But we’ll need your support to win.

We know we will be up against the establishment in this primary, with candidates who take corporate PAC and special interest money, but we know the people want someone who will not just work for them, but with them.

As I touched on previously, my policy priorities include universal healthcare, housing for all, environmental justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice, reproductive rights, keeping I.C.E. out of

California and more.
