John,
"I swore an oath to protect our country, our Constitution, and our freedom with my life. I kept that oath. Congress, it’s time you kept yours."
That’s what military veterans are saying to Congress in our latest ad.
After the Trump administration’s latest abuse of executive power — the federalization of the National Guard in California and deployment of U.S. Marines to quell civil protests in LA — it’s just another sign that our system of checks and balances is under threat.
But Issue One isn’t throwing in the towel. Instead, we’re out with a new ad as part of our Check the Exec campaign. In it, we amplify the voices of everyday military veterans who are urging members of Congress to defend the Constitution and uphold their oath.
The message is simple: Our brave veterans kept their oath. Now, it's time for Congress to keep theirs.
And we’re taking the message mobile! We’re airing the ad digitally across the Washington, D.C., area — and it will be on mobile billboard trucks outside the offices of key members of Congress who we’re pushing to stand up to overreach — Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) in Portland, Maine; Sens. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul (R-KY) in Bowling Green, Kentucky; and Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) in Omaha, Nebraska — this Thursday and Friday.
We know you and many other Americans share our same concerns right now. But together we’re rejecting corruption, authoritarian politics, and executive overreach.
Now, our new ad is amplifying our call and demand to Congress: It's time to reassert your authority and restore the crucial checks and balances our system depends on.
Help us spread the word — watch our new ad and share it with your family and friends!
Thanks for helping us protect democracy, The Issue One Team
P.S. Issue One is leading the nationwide fight for checks and balances right now… but we’re only able to take hard-hitting actions like this because YOU make it possible. Can you rush a donation to support our Check The Exec campaign to help us keep pushing?
