*A Message from DC DMV Director Gabriel Robinson*
Director Robinson
The summer travel season is upon us! With temperatures heating up, I'd like to remind everyone to stay cool and stay safe! Wherever you're headed for summer fun, we encourage everyone to follow the rules of the road.
If the District is your destination, be sure to follow posted speed limits and watch for people walking and biking, particularly when approaching busy intersections. By taking these actions, we can all help achieve the Mayor's Vision Zero [ [link removed] ] goal: zero traffic fatalities and safer streets.
In this month's newsletter, we share some information on DC Government's fine reduction pilot program; include some important tips on safe driving throughout the summer and beyond. We also highlight some recent #TeamDMV outreach in the community from fairs and conferences to World Pride. Keep reading to learn more!
As a reminder, your feedback is important to us. Please write us a letter [ [link removed] ] or join me for the DC DMV Live Chat, [ [link removed] ] held the first Thursday of each month. Our next online live chat is scheduled for* Thursday, July 3 at 12 p.m*. For a full hour, I will respond in real-time to any of your DMV related questions.
Thank you for reading this edition of our newsletter. Stay safe, DC!

ATE Insert
Did Your Recent Ticket Come With an Insert?
Through the DC Government's new fine reduction pilot program, households who are part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP or food stamps) have a chance to apply for an income-based fine reduction on eligible tickets.
Mayor Bowser’s Automated Traffic Enforcement (ATE) Income-Based Fine Reduction Pilot Program launched on June 2nd. The pilot seeks to reduce the financial burden of ATE tickets on low-income drivers, while still holding drivers accountable and maintaining the effectiveness of the cameras to slow drivers down and improve safety.
Households who receive SNAP or food stamps from the DC Department of Human Services (DHS) have a chance to get one eligible camera ticket reduced by half. Parking tickets are not eligible.
Visit the pilot program's FAQs page [ [link removed] ] to learn more.

DC DMV Team
DC DMV in the Community
DC DMV recently participated in the Department of Parks & Recreation's annual Senior Fest celebration on May 20, a fun-filled event hosted by Mayor Bowser and dedicated to District residents over 55.
The DMV Correspondence team looks forward to engaging with District seniors each year, honoring our commitment to serving our city's most vulnerable residents, and ensuring that senior drivers are able to access the DMV resources they need through our community outreach efforts. For more helpful information geared towards residents 55 and older, visit the DC DMV Seniors website here [ [link removed] ].
HSO Conference
Members of #TeamDMV also attended an insightful Mobility Safety Summit held by DC's Highway Safety Office (HSO) [ [link removed] ] at Gallaudet University on May 22. The United We Go event allowed our team to connect with other mobility safety agencies. We left with a wealth of knowledge about what other jurisdictions are doing in the community! Thank you to our partners at the HSO.
