Dear NRDC Activist,
Congress is about to sell out our planet.
They're racing to pass a disastrous bill that hands our public lands over to Big Oil and guts clean energy investments — all to fund tax cuts for billionaires and fossil fuel giants.
Your senators need to hear from you immediately: Send your letter now while they're deciding what stays and what goes.
The Trump administration is making good on the campaign promises made to Big Oil CEOs: that the administration would do their bidding in exchange for donations. The House of Representatives just passed a dangerous bill loaded with polluter giveaways at the expense of our environment.
Now the Senate is deciding which devastating provisions make it into their version. We have one shot to stop them before they:
- Give deep-pocketed developers free rein to exploit our forests, waters, and wilderness areas — including a mandated fire sale of up to 3 millions acres of public lands, roughly the size of Connecticut, to fund tax cuts for billionaires
- Let corporations pay their way to fast-track harmful projects and bypass environmental reviews
- Ramp up mandated oil and gas lease sales in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Western Arctic Reserve respectively, opening the door for destructive industrial development in some of our most pristine, wild places
- Slash clean energy tax credits that have already delivered hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and created thousands of jobs
- Force a dramatic increase in logging in our public forests, like the iconic Tongass National Forest, while rescinding funding to protect climate-saving old-growth trees
The fossil fuel lobby and other industrial polluters are spending millions to ram these harmful measures through during the budget reconciliation process, where they only need a simple majority vote to pass in the Senate.
We're doing everything we can to fight back: rallying our members to stand up to Big Oil, training every day people to testify for stronger protections, flooding swing-district lawmakers with calls and letters they can't afford to ignore, and putting expert advocates in the room to make sure your voice is heard.
They're counting on us staying silent while they auction off our planet's future, but senators are hearing from lobbyists every day.
They need to hear from us, too.
Tell your senators you need them to reject these fossil fuel giveaways and defend our environment.
The magnitude of what anti-environmental lawmakers are proposing is breathtaking. It's a wholesale destruction of fundamental, lifesaving protections that took decades to put in place.
For the sake of our future we must do everything in our power to stop them.
Thank you for lending your voice today.
Sincerely,
Alexandra Adams
