Israel/Palestine and the LGBTQ Community
TODAY, June 18th, 2:00pm Eastern Time

Navigating issues related to Israel/Palestine in the queer community – and in some of the broader progressive spaces – can be challenging. There is a history of using Israel’s relatively LGBTQ friendly environment to distract from the Occupation, a practice which has earned the label “Pinkwashing.” At the same time, there are the sometimes unfair asks that are made of Jews and/or Israelis. To help us make sense of how to navigate these issues, NJN will be hosting a webinar with two leading Jewish and progressive leaders known for their thoughtfulness and nuance.

Emergency Briefing: Understanding the Israel-Iran War
TOMORROW, June 19th, 2:00pm Eastern Time

The Israeli government's decision to begin a bombing campaign in Iran on Thursday marks the beginning of a new chapter in the conflict. All of us are trying to make sense of the military action, the diplomatic fallout, and what the consequences will be for Israel, the region, and for the United States. New Jewish Narrative invites you to an emergency webinar with Ambassador Dan Shapiro, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel and one of the experts best able to brief us on what’s really happening—and what comes next.

NJN Statement on Israel-Iran Escalation

June 13, 2025 — We are watching events in Iran and Israel with grave concern for our families, our friends, and for the millions of lives that are now at risk. This escalation threatens to ignite a catastrophic regional war.

President Trump must act now to firmly push for an immediate de-escalation and a resumption of diplomatic negotiations.

The United States and Iran are in the middle of sensitive nuclear negotiations, with a session scheduled for Sunday. Netanyahu chose this moment to launch strikes that could destroy the path to a diplomatic resolution. We cannot allow the Israeli government's strikes to be the death knell of diplomacy – or to drag the United States and the entire region into a war.

Last week, the Israeli government declared 750 dunams to be "State Land" in the outpost of Malachei HaShalom.

June 13, 2025 - The media reported that the Civil Administration declared approximately 800 dunams as state land in the area surrounding the Malachei HaShalom outpost, located between Ramallah and Nablus. The official declaration has yet to be published on the Civil Administration’s website, but a map attached to the media reports indicates that the area in question likely includes around 750 dunams situated between the villages of Duma and Al-Mughayir. In February 2023, the Israeli cabinet approved the establishment of nine new settlements, among them Malachei HaShalom. Until now, the lands in the area of this settlement were not considered “state land,” and this new declaration paves the way for further planning and construction of the settlement.

DC-area friends: Please join New Jewish Narrative and our partners here in DC for a rally outside of the White House this Sunday (June 22nd) at 11:00am.

We will join our voices in a call to for peace, safety, and life for the people of Israel, Palestine, and Iran.

The event will include speakers, music, and prayer. Together we will call for diplomacy and an end to the fighting, the release of hostages, humanitarian aid, and an end to the starvation of Gaza.

Let us know if you'll be attending so we have a sense of how many people to expect.
