Dear Friend,

The conflict following Israel’s attack on Iran on 13 June continues to escalate. The strike has triggered a series of military and political reactions from Iran, such as the announcement by the Iranian foreign ministry that it would reduce its cooperation <[link removed]> with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors and that its Parliament is working on legislation <[link removed]> to withdraw Iran from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Only a few hours after the first strike, ICAN started giving interviews to media outlets around the world including expert commentary throughout the day on Al Jazeera <[link removed]> as well as media in Europe <[link removed]>, Latin America <[link removed]> and the Middle East <[link removed]>. ICAN’s staff team provided commentary and analysis on the risks to nuclear non-proliferation and on the possibility of radiation release from the attacks on Iran's nuclear facility and damages to public health and the environment. ICAN highlighted how Israel’s illegal attack undermines nuclear non-proliferation and risks the conflagration of the region. And we continue to engage with governments calling on countries and leaders to condemn Israel’s illegal attack and work immediately for the end of hostilities.

<[link removed]>ICAN has provided regular updates <[link removed]> and talking points to our partners around the world, ensuring that our global response is consistent and firm.

<[link removed]>Will you support our work? <[link removed]>International treaties such as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons are essential tools to bring peace and security to the region and globally. ICAN will continue to call on all countries to join or continue their adherence to these treaties and uphold international humanitarian law. Will you support <[link removed]> our work?

Thank you,

Melissa Parke
Executive Director,
ICAN
