Dear John,
We’re thrilled to announce a historic
$2 million in grants through the 2025 Justice and Liberation Fund.<[link removed]> This grant round represents the single largest investment in Black-led organizing in Headwaters’ history, moving resources into the hands of Black-led organizers across Minnesota.
This fund was designed by Black community, led by Black community, and is now resourcing Black communities building power throughout the state
With this funding, 40 organizations are receiving unrestricted, two-year grants to continue leading transformative work for Black communities.
Across the state, grantees are working to build a Minnesota where Black people can live with justice, dignity, and power to shape their communities. From housing justice to healing work, this year’s grantees reflect the diversity, brilliance, and leadership of Black Minnesotans.
As our community prepares to honor Juneteenth, these grants are an ongoing commitment to Black liberation and building Black power.
We’re proud to partner with
Black Visions<[link removed]> to support this year’s grantmaking. Both Headwaters and Black Visions contributed $1 million to the 2025 grantmaking, which was led by a dedicated committee of 14 community members.
Read the full story of the fund, meet the community grantmakers, and feel the power of Black-led organizing in in Minnesota.
