Sexual assault survivors deserve support, healing, and justice — not budget cuts.
Friends,
I stood on the Capitol steps last week with sexual assault survivors, advocates from across Pennsylvania, and my local rape crisis center, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR). Together, we sent a clear message to Harrisburg: flat funding is failing survivors.
Every day, rape crisis centers are being asked to do more with less — while 1 in 4 people in this country will experience sexual violence in their lifetime. That’s a public health crisis, and our government has a duty to respond.
But Pennsylvania hasn’t increased funding for rape crisis centers in five years. And we all know “flat funding” is just a quiet way of saying: you’re on your own.
