The House GOP just voted to slash over $9 billion in previously approved aid, including critical funding for USAID, which supports food security, disaster relief, and global stability.
They’re calling them “DOGE cuts” — part of a push backed by billionaires like Elon Musk to claw back funding already allocated by Congress. This money had a purpose: to feed families, support U.S. allies, and uphold our global commitments. Now, it’s on the chopping block.
USAID matters. This agency delivers vaccines during global outbreaks, helps farmers adapt to climate change, and prevents humanitarian crises that can spark conflict and migration. Pulling back this funding after it’s already been committed undermines our credibility and hurts people on the ground. We need to send a clear message: The American people do not support turning our backs on those who depend on us.
