[ [link removed] ]Katie Porter for Governor

Dear John,

Recently, I held a campaign event in San Francisco, where I heard directly
from Californians about what’s on their minds.

When a lot of people picture the work of government, they think about the
legislative action happening in statehouses or in the Capitol. That’s only
part of the story.

Some of the most important work happens in communities. If you aren’t
listening to people and understanding their challenges, you can’t
represent them or be an effective leader.

When I was in Congress, one common question people asked was whether I got
tired of having to campaign every two years. I actually loved it, because
it was a chance to be in conversation with real people and to bring
politics home to Californians.

Over the course of my three Congressional campaigns, I personally
canvassed thousands of voters and spoke face to face with them.

Obviously, in a big state like California, you can’t get to every single
door. But, that’s no excuse not to talk to any voters.

[ [link removed] ]I need your help to reach voters from San Diego to Eureka: Can you chip
in $5 today, so I can meet with people in every part and
pocket of this state?
