Last week, in the House we passed the Rescissions Act to rein in federal overreach and root out bloated, wasteful programs. I voted to eliminate $9.4 billion in spending tied to programs that have strayed from their intended purpose and no longer serve the public interest. This is a needed step to enact spending reforms promised by President Trump and Congressional Republicans.
Simultaneously, appropriations season is in full swing. We took key steps in the Appropriations Committee to advance national security, improve care for our veterans, invest in rural communities and promote American innovation. I participated in full committee markups for the FY 2026 MilCon‑VA and Defense appropriations bills, where we advanced funding to support our service members and strengthen national defense. We also began consideration of the Agriculture appropriations bill, laying the groundwork to deliver much-needed support for farmers and rural development. In the Science, Space and Technology Committee, we also advanced bipartisan legislation supporting cybersecurity, AI development and weather research.
