PLANNED PARENTHOOD

The Supreme Court term is almost over, which means we're watching closely for a decision in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic — a case that could determine the future of Medicaid patient rights in this country.

Here's what you need to know:

This case is about whether patients who rely on Medicaid can sue in federal court to protect their right to choose the health care provider that is best for them — including Planned Parenthood.

When South Carolina violated patients' rights by trying to exclude Planned Parenthood health centers from the state's Medicaid program, we fought back in court.

Every person should be able to get the care that's right for them, from a provider they trust. That's non-negotiable. That's right at the heart of who Planned Parenthood is and what we stand for.
If the Supreme Court rules against us in this case, the string of targeted attacks on Planned Parenthood and Medicaid will continue.

Across the country, more than half of Planned Parenthood patients use Medicaid — and for some health centers, the ratio is much higher.

Many of these patients have relied on Planned Parenthood for years because they know they can get excellent care from a provider who truly welcomes them. For many patients, a local Planned Parenthood health center is the only source of high-quality, affordable care.

This court case threatens care for millions of patients. That's why we'll be ready to respond as soon as the Supreme Court rules in this case.

Thank you for staying up to date. We'll let you know as soon as we know more.
