Dear John,

We are living in crazy times. But God ordained each and every one of us for this season and for His reason. And as things seem to get crazier by the day, I want to share a Biblical perspective on this hour we’re in.

And in this hour, some of the key characters in the Book of Revelation are on center stage, engaging in an ever-escalating conflict. Israel, God’s chosen people, and Iran—Persia in Biblical times—are at war. Israel has been in God’s plan for the redemption of the world from the very beginning, and those who hasten the destruction of Israel are fighting a losing battle against God Himself. Yet in the midst of this, we must remember and pray for the hundreds of thousands of believers in Iran.

So how do we pray?

Matthew 24 has good insight: “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

— Matthew 24:10–14

What a great promise. The Great Commission will be fulfilled. There’s no army, force, nuke, or missile strong enough to undo the prophetic promise of Matthew 24:14. Although things get crazy in the end, the Great Commission will still happen. Every nation, tribe, and tongue will hear the gospel.

But what is our role as believers? How do we respond?

We pray.

We get in the Word.

We worship.

We live our lives with joy in the midst of it all.
