Breaking news, team: Ohio Republican lawmakers are set to introduce one of the most dangerous, extreme anti-abortion bills in Ohio history — legislation that would ban AND criminalize abortion, IVF, and even some forms of contraception. It even goes so far as to charge women who have abortions with homicide.

This bill would ban abortion from the moment of fertilization. It would give embryos full legal personhood rights, putting access to IVF and emergency contraception at serious risk. And it would allow prosecutors to charge patients and doctors with aggravated murder — a crime that carries penalties of life in prison or even the death penalty.

Yes, you read that right: Ohio Republicans want to send people to prison — or worse — for making their own healthcare decisions.

Instead of lowering the cost of food or healthcare, Ohio Republicans are once again ignoring the will of the voters, making it even more difficult to start a family. Voters overwhelmingly rejected these extreme measures at the polls in 2023, but Republicans couldn’t care less.
