Click here ![]() ![]() Dear Friends, Our various conversations and activities examined how shared equity housing organizations, investors, and strategic partners are working together to successfully build capacity and advocate for policies that lead to a stronger lasting affordability ecosystem. Gary Community Ventures’ President and CEO, Santhosh Ramdoss, delivered a deeply engaging opening keynote highlighting the newly emerging Ownership Economy movement; leveraging the capital markets, public policy, and philanthropic innovation to help all U.S. families—particularly those in marginalized communities—achieve economic stability, mobility, and prosperity. In her stirring plenary address, renowned researcher, advocate, and author of Just Action, Leah Rothstein, challenged the audience to look beyond slogans and surface-level actions to meaningfully address the enduring impacts of government-sanctioned housing discrimination. Dr. George “Mac” McCarthy, outgoing president and CEO of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, closed our convening on a hopeful note, using data to illustrate how innovative approaches to public land ownership and policies can support the rapid expansion of shared equity housing models. Overall, we accomplished a majority of the planned goals for the conference, providing an important opportunity for many of those in our field to form new bonds and strengthen old ones, while fostering a deeper sense of community and common purpose. I know from the recent messages with positive feedback received to date, that many attendees left feeling both inspired and re-energized.
