Friend,

When Black lives are under attack, what do we do? Rise up and fight back! That’s why this year for Juneteenth––the 135th anniversary of when the last enslaved Black people were told that they were free––we’re honoring Black freedom and resistance by taking to the streets and loudly proclaiming in one unified voice that Black Lives Matter.

CPD Action is proud to join with the Movement for Black Lives to celebrate Juneteenth and take action this weekend to defend Black lives. We will mobilize in Washington, D.C., in cities and towns elsewhere across the nation and on the internet. Here are two ways to get involved this Juneteenth Weekend:

1. [Join us and the Movement for Black Lives as we take action across the country for a weekend of action to proclaim Black Lives Matter. Find an event near you here!]([link removed])

2. [Join us and the Poor People’s Campaign on Saturday, June 20th for a Digital Moral March on Washington, D.C. Sign up here.]([link removed])

The uprisings that have bloomed across the country in recent weeks in the wake of the murder of George Floyd are a necessary continuation of our ancestors' work. And we can’t stop now.

Black communities have had enough, and all of us are being called in to defend Black lives. Performative gestures are not enough, we demand real transformation. Black people deserve to live freely, safely, and joyfully. Together we can end the criminalization of Black, Brown, Indigenous and other marginalized communities and build the country of our dreams by investing in housing, health care, and public education instead.

This Juneteenth, our demand is clear and unapologetic, defund the police and invest in what Black communities need to thrive. [Find an event near you now.]([link removed])

In solidarity,
