Shortly after a Temple Police officer was tragically killed in early 2023, I reached out to Temple University and asked how I could help improve public safety. Within days, I worked with Temple’s Public Safety Office to secure the funding they needed.
That work resulted in the deployment of state-of-the-art license plate reading cameras that help law enforcement identify stolen vehicles and track down dangerous suspects. Seeing that investment lead to an arrest is incredibly rewarding—but there’s more to do.
That’s why I’ve requested $1.19 million in additional federal funding for Temple’s public safety efforts in Fiscal Year 2026.
I’m deeply grateful to the officers at Temple and across Philadelphia who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities. I know how tough their jobs are—and I believe they deserve the tools and resources to do them safely and effectively.
I’ll keep working to keep our neighborhoods safe.
Sincerely,
