Last week, I reintroduced the bipartisan Stop the Baseline Bloat Act to bring honesty and transparency to how Washington handles your tax dollars.
Right now, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) includes emergency spending in its annual budget projections, artificially inflating future spending expectations and distorting the true size of our long-term budget. This flawed practice helps justify out-of-control spending and drives up our national debt.
My bill fixes this by removing emergency spending from the CBO baseline, ensuring it’s treated as temporary, not the standard for future budgets. This is a commonsense step to rein in Washington's bad habits and give taxpayers a clearer picture of where their money is going.

On Tuesday, the Oversight Committee held a hearing on data privacy and national security threats raised by 23andMe’s bankruptcy sale. The company holds the genetic data of over 15 million Americans, raising red flags about who could gain access to that highly personal information.
I’m especially concerned about the potential for Chinese government-linked entities to acquire this data. Given China’s history of data exploitation and cyber manipulation, we cannot allow them access to Americans’ genetic blueprints.
The Oversight Committee is working to ensure that strong safeguards are in place to prevent any foreign adversary from misusing this sensitive data.

On Thursday, we questioned Governors JB Pritzker (D-IL), Tim Walz (D-MN), and Kathy Hochul (D-NY) about the dangerous consequences of their sanctuary state policies.
These governors have implemented policies that shield illegal migrants from federal immigration enforcement, undermining public safety. Our hearing highlighted tragic stories of innocent Americans hurt or killed because of these reckless policies.
In Wisconsin, I regularly hear from constituents who’ve moved out of Illinois due to Governor Pritzker’s failed sanctuary approach. These policies not only put lives at risk, but they allow people who broke the law to evade accountability, tap into government services without paying taxes, and destabilize communities.

Last week, I attended the annual White House Congressional Picnic. I appreciate President Trump for hosting a wonderful evening that brought together lawmakers and their families.
I was glad that the President invited me and members of my family to the White House for a more informal evening of fun and meaningful conversations, including time with the President himself. It was a great way to kick off a strong presidency and working relationship with Congress.

Saturday was the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army!
Since June 14, 1775, the Army has stood as the oldest branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. On Saturday, we honored the brave, and selfless, men and women – both past and present - who have dedicated their lives and made countless sacrifices to protect our great nation. Thank you for 250 years of service and unwavering strength.

Sunday was Father’s Day! Yesterday, we celebrated you, our everyday heroes. I miss you, dad!

Last week, I had an impactful meeting with the Alzheimer’s Association to discuss groundbreaking medications that can slow or prevent the progression of Alzheimer’s. We also explored how Congress can better support early diagnosis and empower both patients and providers in the fight against this disease.

Congratulations to Ciera Striley, an Eagle Scout, and Air Force Falcon Scholar. It was an honor to attend her Court of Honor ceremony held at the Military Veterans Museum and Education Center (MVMEC) in Oshkosh last weekend.
Ciera’s impressive Eagle Scout project involved building the beautiful walking trail around the MVMEC pond - a lasting contribution that will benefit the community for years to come. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Last weekend, I was honored to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Eric Krentz and Tommy Ellmauer in Port Washington. These two outstanding young men created projects that are already making a real impact in our community.
- Eric designed and built five eyeglass collection bins now located throughout Saukville (at the eye doctor, village hall, grocery store, and local printer) to support the Saukville Lions Club’s mission of providing eye care and glasses to those in need.
- Tommy constructed a simulated wall with a window for the Port Washington Fire Department, helping firefighters prepare for real-life rescue scenarios.
Their leadership, initiative, and dedication embody the very best of what it means to be an Eagle Scout. Congratulations, Eric and Tommy.

I had an amazing time volunteering at the Manitowoc County Breakfast on the Farm. The day was full of community, fun for everyone, and familiar faces, such as my friend, State Senator André Jacque.
Thank you to everyone who made this event such a fun and memorable experience and a big congratulations to the crowned Miss Farm Bureau and Dairy Princess.

The Winneconne Cemetery, a cherished part of our community since 1871, was entrusted to the Village in 1962 to ensure it’s maintained for generations to come.
It was an honor to visit the Village of Winneconne’s first Historical Marker, now proudly displayed at the cemetery. This marker shares the rich history of this beautiful and peaceful resting place and celebrates the legacy of our entire community.
