Senate unveils their version of Trump's big bill and somehow it's even worse

Far from toning down the House GOP's horrific assault on working families, Senate Republicans revealed their version of a budget bill that is somehow EVEN WORSE. The proposed cuts to Medicaid are even deeper, threatening to kick even more millions of Americans off their healthcare (the projected number currently runs anywhere from 8 to 16 million without coverage) and the only good things in the original House bill, like the elimination of taxes on tipped income and an increase to the Child Tax Credit, have been scaled back to pay for ever bigger cuts for the wealthy. All this in the wake of polls showing Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" is wildly unpopular among voters across the board. Oh, and one of the largest public land sales in American history — 120 million acres — is buried in there too. It's a smash and grab on a national scale.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump humiliates himself in front of world leaders at G7 summit

The MAGA cult leader haplessly wandered off script during the G7 gathering in Canada yesterday with cameras rolling and pontificated on the absence of Russia from the global summit, in another deeply embarrassing performance on the world stage. Sounding rather subdued and a bit under the weather, Trump carried Vladimir Putin's very dirty water yet again and said there would have been no war with Ukraine if the G8 hadn't decided to kick Russia out...which they did in response to the Russian dictator's invasion of Crimea in 2014. Donald then spoke about himself in the third person, Elmo-style (super normal!), and claimed none of this would have happened under his watch. So for those keeping track at home, we could have avoided Russia’s war with Ukraine if the world had just let Russia invade Ukraine in peace.

Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher aims to sink Lauren Boebert's career

Eileen for Colorado: MAGA extremist Lauren Boebert represents everything that’s wrong with the modern GOP. A Trump sycophant who rubber-stamps the worst of his excesses — when she’s not making a fool of herself in House hearings or getting thrown out of children’s theater productions — Lauren Boebert barely survived her last election, winning by only 594 votes. Her conduct in Congress has inspired former National Security Council member Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher to run for Congress, flip her VERY winnable seat blue, and restore our congressional majority! Will you make a donation and help jump-start her campaign?

Trump abruptly leaves G7 summit, urges all of Tehran — a city of 9.5 million — to evacuate "immediately"
Donald Trump posted an ominous message on his social media platform calling for the immediate evacuation of the Iranian capital of Tehran while he was in Canada attending the G7 summit. Tehran, a city of nearly 10 million, cannot simply evacuate "immediately," if at all, it should be noted. Trump said Iran should have signed the "deal" he told them to sign to prevent what he said was "a shame, and waste of human life," referring to Israel’s deadly strikes last week. Prior to Donald's call for Tehran to empty out entirely, Israel’s military earlier issued an evacuation warning affecting up to 330,000 people in a part of central Tehran that includes the country’s state TV and police headquarters, as well as three large hospitals, including one owned by Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

Marjorie Taylor Greene tears into "propaganda" Fox News, New York Post: "American people have been brainwashed"
During a head-spinning appearance on — checks notes — The Matt Gaetz Show on OAN, QAnon Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took dead aim at Fox News, once the crown jewel in the MAGA media tiara, for its complicity in the neocon plot to hypnotize Americans into cheering for wars they can't find on a map. Greene wasn't finished torching the very network that helped make her a household name. The Georgia Republican later came to the defense of Tucker Carlson after the former Fox News blowhard castigated Donald Trump for his handling of the exploding conflict in the Middle East. Greene tweeted: "Tucker Carlson is one of my favorite people... Since being fired by the neocon network Fox News, he has more popularity and viewers than ever before. He unapologetically believes the same things I do." Uh, looks like Donald just lost Marge AND Tucker. We are seriously living in the upside down.

The world's most-visited museum shuts down with staff sounding the alarm on mass tourism

The Louvre, the world’s most-visited museum and a global symbol of art, beauty, and endurance (and a wee bit of imperial looting), has withstood war, terror, and pandemic — but on Monday, it was brought to a halt by its own striking staff, who say the institution is crumbling under the weight of unrelenting mass tourism. Just a day earlier, coordinated anti-tourism protests swept across southern Europe. Thousands rallied in Mallorca, Venice, Lisbon, and beyond, denouncing an economic model they say displaces locals and erodes city life. In Barcelona, activists sprayed tourists with water pistols — a theatrical bid to "cool down" runaway tourism.

Mike Lee confronted by Minnesota colleague over shooting comments
Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith tracked down her Utah colleague in the halls of the Senate to confront him about his appalling tweets mocking the shootings of two Minnesota state Democrats and their spouses. Mike Lee — an unrepentant social media troll whose nonofficial handle is "@BasedMikeLee" (so edgy, so cool, so based, bro) — was reportedly taken aback at the notion of facing the most meager of consequences for his hateful actions. "Honestly, he seemed a little surprised to be confronted," said Sen. Smith, who told reporters, "I wanted him to know how much pain that caused me and the other people in my state, and I think around the country, who think that this was a brutal attack. I don't know whether Senator Lee thought fully through what it was — you have to ask him — but I needed him to hear from me directly what impact I think his cruel statement had on me, his colleague." Lee, who fancies himself a very pious and devout Christian man whenever it suits him, then refused to answer any questions from the media and had his staff shield him from reporters. Coward.

Democratic rep cancels town hall after appearing on Minnesota murderer's hit list
Rep. Hillary Scholten, a Democrat from Michigan, canceled a town hall event Monday after learning that her name was on the alleged hit list of Vance Boelter, the right-wing extremist who impersonated a police officer during a targeted attack on pro-choice lawmakers, killing two. "After being made aware that my name was on a list connected to the recent tragic shooting in Minnesota, my office has made the difficult decision to postpone our planned town hall in Muskegon," Scholten said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution and to not divert additional law enforcement resources away from protecting the broader public at this time, this is the responsible choice," she added, noting that the event would be rescheduled. Boelter, 57, is accused of killing Democratic Minnesota state Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their Brooklyn Park home on Saturday morning. Boelter is also believed to have injured state Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. He was arrested late Sunday night near his farm in Green Isle, Minnesota, and is facing both federal and state charges, including stalking and first-degree murder. Officials have said that Boelter, described by friends as a deeply conservative religious man, allegedly had high-capacity firearms in his car, along with a list of names of 45 elected officials in his notebooks.

Trump launches mobile phone that looks both bad and impossible
After slapping down high tariffs on every other phone, the world's greatest American con man announced that his family was starting a company to produce and sell cellphones "made in America," because the grift never stops with these people. The discerning techies at The Verge took a deep dive into the promises of the Trump phone and — you'll be shocked to hear this — deduced that they were bullshit. "All we have is a website that was clearly put together quickly and somewhat sloppily, a promise that the phone is 'designed and built in the USA' that I absolutely do not believe, a picture that appears to be nearly 100 percent Photoshopped, and a list of specs that don't make a lot of sense together," writes David Pierce, who noted that there is no discussion of a processor (important!) and also that it is almost impossible to actually manufacture cell phones in America. But hey, for a cool $499, you too could be the recipient of what is most likely a repackaged, overpriced Samsung Galaxy that comes pre-installed with crypto apps and Russian spyware!

Medicaid keeps getting more popular as Republicans aim to cut it by $800 billion
Turns out most people actually like reliable access to healthcare — both for themselves and others. A new poll shows a whopping 83% of the public have favorable views of Medicaid, including three out of four Republicans. Despite that, Donald Trump and congressional Republicans' are insisting we kick roughly 10 million people off their healthcare to cover the cost of massive tax cuts for the wealthy and to help fund the MAGA cult leader's massive deportation operation. 71 million low-income and disabled Americans rely on Medicaid. The MAGA ghouls running our federal government into the ground want to lay waste to one of the most popular federal programs on the books, a message that bears repeating several thousand more times between now and the 2026 midterms.
