Later today, the Senate Finance Committee is expected to release its portion of the big brutal budget bill, which hands trillions of dollars in tax cuts to the rich, paid for by slashing health care, nutrition, and more.

That’s why we’re organizing an Emergency Virtual Rally tomorrow, Tuesday, June 17th from 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm ET where we’ll hear from Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-OR) and others on the worst parts of the Finance Committee budget bill.

We’ll also hear from members of the Senate Agriculture Committee, which released its portion of the budget last week.¹ This proposal cuts $211 billion from SNAP nutrition benefits, shifts benefits costs to the states for the first time, and implements even harsher work reporting requirements—while removing recent exemptions for veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and former foster youth.

These harsh cuts will result in one in five current SNAP recipients losing at least some of their food assistance, including 2.5 million children.²
