CND condemns Israel’s illegal attacks on Iran, which has created an escalating conflict. In just four days, 224 people have been killed and injured 1,400 in Iran, with 23 people killed and 600 injured in Israel. President Trump is supporting Israel’s calls for Tehrani citizens to evacuate or face bombardment.
Both the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) and the US director of national intelligence have stated that Iran is not actively pursuing a nuclear bomb. While Iran is also a signatory of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Israel refuses to engage with the NPT and maintains an undisclosed nuclear arsenal of at least 90 warheads.
Israel is using nuclear lies to justify attempts to secure regime change through military aggression – and risks causing a humanitarian catastrophe.
Meanwhile it continues to act with impunity across Occupied Palestine, with hundreds of casualties registered in Khan Younis today after Israeli tanks reportedly attacked people waiting for vital aid.
Join us in calling on the British government to end its support for nuclear-armed Israel, support diplomatic efforts to re-establish the international framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA), widen sanctions on Israel and impose a full arms embargo now.
