As I have heard Outright International’s Executive Director recently say, this Pride season feels different.
Around the world, our carefully built annual platform for LGBTIQ visibility is taking place in a dark period—marked by fervent attacks from emboldened opponents in governments and societies, and a notably subdued response from historic allies who are themselves under unseemly pressure.
That’s why now, more than any other moment in recent memory, LGBTIQ communities and allies must be seen, heard, and acknowledged. We must show that we are Stronger Together, and will not be erased, ignored, scapegoated, or put into danger.
