John, you’ve probably experienced this before: You’re driving along when suddenly, extremely bright headlights flood your field of vision – best case scenario, leaving you momentarily stunned, or worst case scenario, leaving you unable to see the road ahead.

It’s not just a temporary annoyance, John. Overly bright LED headlights present a real danger to drivers, including rural Americans, older Americans, law enforcement, and more. The average headlights have become twice as bright in recent years, with no regulation on maximum levels currently on the books.

Marie is working to change that. She’s calling for the upcoming infrastructure bill to include maximum brightness standards that will preserve driver visibility while keeping others on the road safe.
