As Refuse Fascism co-initiator Sunsara Taylor said at the rally in front of the White House:

“Today we refused to fall silent. We refused to accept Trump’s threats against the people as he parades his fascist military in front of the world. The numbers in the streets today show there is a force that will stand up against Trump. But unless and until this fascism is defeated, unless and until this regime is driven from power, the regime will barrel over even the most righteous resistance.”

Fascism relies on violence and terror to consolidate its rule. On Sunday night, one day after the mass protests, Trump posted an unhinged, revenge-fueled attack on Democratic Party leaders and announced an unleashing of concentrated ICE/Gestapo terror on immigrants in Democrat-led cities. And less than 48 hours after the horrific assassination of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman by a fascist in Minneapolis, Trump's Truth Social post included this: “These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it! There is something wrong with them.”

We must continue to stand up to these threats and this terror, with courage and conviction, defending those under attack.

What we saw on June 14 around the country was the great potential that we must urgently build on and strengthen this summer – to get to the point when millions in the streets day after day – non-violent but relentless – can create such a profound political crisis that Trump cannot impose his fascist rule, cannot govern the country, and cannot hold onto power. That is what people all around the world have done to drive out hated tyrants. That is what we can and must do here.
