Team — it’s LaMonica McIver. Last month, the Trump administration brought
charges against me because I was doing my job as a member of Congress.
Now, I’ve been officially indicted.

Let me be clear: under the law, members of Congress are explicitly
authorized to conduct oversight at ICE facilities. I was there to do my
job and make sure that this administration isn’t abusing people’s rights.
And I was charged and now indicted. The administration’s attacks are
baseless and the facts are on my side, but that’s not stopping them from

These charges hold no factual merit. But there’s a reason they brought
them: the Trump administration thinks they can intimidate me and scare me
out of doing the job I was elected to do. They’re wrong.
