Over the weekend, I held two town halls and got to talk to hundreds of constituents from Charlottesville and Winchester.

I also had the opportunity to join protesters at a No Kings Rally in Fairfax county. It was great to see so many Virginians make their voices heard and send a clear message: in America, we honor the Constitution, not any president.

This weekend, I heard from a lot of folks who are deeply concerned about Trump’s politicization of our military, our standing with our allies around the world, and the economic turmoil from Trump’s tariffs. And the constituents I spoke to are pretty pissed off about this big, ugly bill and its cruel cuts to Medicaid and food assistance to offset huge tax cuts for wealthy Americans.

Candidly, I’m pissed off too. This is just about the most frightening piece of legislation I’ve ever seen.

I’m working to hold the Trump administration accountable and urging my Republican friends to vote against this ugly bill.

But here’s the reality: I can’t rely on my Republican colleagues to stand up to Trump. We must win back control of the Senate and keep Virginia blue to rein in his harmful agenda.

I’ll be honest. These are hard times – probably the hardest times since I’ve been involved in politics. But we live in the greatest country in the world and I, for one, am not going to give in.

I’ll keep speaking out and pushing back when Trump and Congressional Republicans threaten your safety, your bank account, or your freedom.

And I’ll continue that fight at the ballot box – to hold my seat, keep Virginia blue, and help Democrats take back the Senate.
