John,
If Republicans get their way, 16 million people will lose health coverage.
If that happens, hospitals will close their doors across the United States―especially in rural and underserved areas.
This week, the Senate is considering the House’s bill to slash Medicaid and hand tax cuts to the wealthy―and we’re hearing that they are making Medicaid cuts even crueler than the House’s version!
Even after slashing nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, the tax cuts for the rich are still so big that it would also trigger $500 billion in automatic across-the-board cuts to Medicare!
Social Security Works is organizing folks to rally in front of hospitals around the country to deliver the message: Hands off Medicaid! This is a massive undertaking, and one that we can only do with your help. Can you rush a donation today?
If Congress cuts Medicaid, rural America will suffer the most. And we’ve already seen the consequences of reduced health care funding: hospitals shutting their doors, pregnant women giving birth on the side of the road, and seniors driving hours just to see a doctor.
We have been working in Washington DC and targeted congressional districts all year―talking to lawmakers about the dangers of this deadly Republican bill. Now we’re taking the fight all across the country, saying loudly: Hands Off Medicaid!
Let’s be clear on where Congress stands: The House has passed a version of its bill, and the Senate could hold a vote on theirs as soon as next week. But the Senate’s version will have changed so much that it will go back to the House for another vote. We need to grind this bill to a halt―just like we did in 2017 when we defeated Trump’s last attack on Medicaid and Medicare. But we’re running out of time.
We can only win if we fight. Can you rush a donation to Social Security Works today?
Thank you,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
P.S. We’re still getting our events organized, but we will reach out in a few days to let you know how to get involved. In the meantime, chip in!
