After my daughter Gina was murdered in her high school, we promised to take steps to make schools safer.

Those steps led to the creation of two vital programs: the CISA School Safety Task Force and SchoolSafety.gov , the Federal School Safety Clearinghouse. These programs were introduced during President Trump’s first term and codified into law during the Biden administration. We must ensure these focused and efficient efforts endure perpetually. They are designed to help schools across the country prevent violence and save student’s lives.

But now, the federal budget proposal for next year eliminates all funding for both programs .

Friend, these aren’t just bureaucratic tools. They’re proven, innovative, life-saving resources created in direct response to tragedy. They provide school leaders with trusted guidance, training, and evidence-based strategies to respond to threats. They help protect our nation’s children. And they exist because families like mine demanded action after enduring the unthinkable.

* This is a rollback of critical protections. Eliminating these programs means leaving states and school districts to fend for themselves against evolving threats like cyberattacks, targeted violence, and mass shootings.
* No one else can fill this gap. The federal expertise housed within the CISA Task Force and Clearinghouse doesn’t exist anywhere else. We can’t afford to lose it.
* SchoolSafety.gov works . It provides trusted, evidence-based tools to school leaders nationwide — and fulfills bipartisan Congressional mandates.

Congress must act before it’s too late. We’re urging lawmakers to ensure these life-saving programs are explicitly funded in the final FY26 appropriations bills.
