House Set to Rescind Woke and Wasteful Spending
This week, the House of Representatives is expected to vote on the Rescissions Act of 2025 in response to a formal request submitted to Congress by President Donald Trump.
From 1974 to 2000, it was commonplace for the president to request rescissions of funding under the Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974. In fact, every president from Gerald Ford through Bill Clinton both made rescission requests to Congress and signed them into law.
Sadly, since the turn of the century, no president—Republican or Democrat—has made a formal rescissions request to Congress, with one exception: President Donald Trump. During his first term, Trump requested $14.8 billion in rescissions from Congress, which unfortunately failed in the Senate by a 48-50 vote.
US, China reach 'framework' to implement trade deal, Lutnick says
The U.S. and China have reached a "framework" to implement a trade deal struck between the two sides last month in Geneva, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced.
President Donald Trump then posted on Truth Social on Wednesday that "our deal with China is done, subject to final approval with President Xi and me."
The development comes after two days of meetings between negotiators in London and a phone call last week between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The U.S. and China announced a 90-day détente that involved reduced tariffs in May, but both sides had accused each other of running afoul of the deal.
"We have reached a framework to implement the Geneva consensus," Lutnick said.
