Friends,

As I write to you, the fighting between Israel and Iran is intensifying.
Overnight, Iran struck an Israeli oil refinery and residential buildings,
damaging part of the power grid. Casualties on both sides are mounting.

With residents of Tehran fleeing the capital and Israelis rushing into
bomb shelters, the conflict is already taking an enormous toll on
civilians with no end in sight. Additionally, according to reports,
President Trump rejected an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s supreme
leader – and more direct US involvement remains a possibility.

To assess everything at stake, we’re holding a virtual J Street Policy
Center briefing featuring Iran experts Ali Vaez and Sima Shine, moderated
by J Street’s Chief Policy Officer Ilan Goldenberg, tomorrow – and we’d
love to have you join us.

Israel and Iran here

Ali Vaez serves as the Iran Project Director at the International Crisis
Group, which helped achieve the landmark Iranian nuclear agreement in
2015.

Sima Shine is the director of the Iran program at the Institute for
National Security Studies, and formerly worked on the Iran file at the
Israeli National Security Council, Ministry of Strategic Affairs and the
Mossad.

Ali and Sima will bring their expertise to analyze Israel’s targeted
strikes against Iran’s military facilities and major Iranian nuclear
sites, and assess whether destroying the Iranian nuclear program is
feasible.

They'll also answer questions about the elimination of Iran’s military and
nuclear leaders, including the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards
Corps, as well as the role of the Trump Administration and the
international community, rising oil prices and the future of the conflict.
