As the campaign manager, one of my biggest responsibilities is our budget. And I just took a calculated risk — let me explain why.

It’s clear our race is a toss-up. The polls are within the margin of error, our momentum is building, and Cal’s commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington is resonating across North Carolina. I think we have a great shot to win this race, but if there’s one thing I know for certain — we’ll only be successful if we can get our message out.

That’s why I just approved a big expense — an investment in new ads on TV and digital, to spread Cal’s message. I won’t lie, it’s going to make this quarter’s budget much tighter than I’d originally planned. But I know it’s worth it.

This new investment makes it critically important we hit our FEC fundraising goal. I’m taking a calculated risk here, but I’m willing to bet that this incredible team will keep us on track and make sure we have the financial resources to do it.
