Often, students of color lack access to critical arts education and training programs. This resolution not only designates this month as Black Music Appreciation Month, but is also a call to action for more resources for music education in underserved communities. | | Remembering & Honoring Charles B. Rangel with Congressional Gold Medal | In honor of the life and legacy of the Lion on Lenox Ave., the Honorable Charles B. Rangel, I joined my colleagues in introducing legislation to posthumously award him with the Congressional Gold Medal. In Congress, Rangel continuously broke barriers; he was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and served as the first Black Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee. He was a servant leader, a dear friend, and a mentor – his impact will be felt for generations to come. Over the past few months, we’ve witnessed mass layoffs across government agencies, executive orders impacting various issues, threats against immigrants, potential tariffs on neighboring countries, and much more.
