Each month we hold Planning Commission meetings and present to the Board of Island County Commissioners (Board) on topics relevant to Island County’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update. Below are our upcoming meetings and engagement opportunities.
Revised Goals and Policies Released for 45 Day Public Comment Period
As part of the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update, staff have released revised goals and policies for public review and input. Public comments will be accepted on the revised goals and policies until July 14, 2025. Visit our website for more information and details on how to comment.
Planning Commission
The next Planning Commission meeting will be on Wednesday, June 18 at 6 pm. Long Range Planning will review the revised goals and policies for the Natural Resource Element with the Planning Commission.
The Planning Commission will also be meeting Wednesday, June 25 at 6 pm, to review the Capital Facilities & Utilities and Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Elements revised goals and policies. Materials for all Planning Commission meetings can be found in the agenda center.
Board of County Commissioners
Long Range Planning will be reviewing the revised goals and policies for the Land Use Element with the Board on June 18 at 1 pm. Meeting materials are available in the agenda center.
Planning will be meeting with the Board during a special session on June 24 at 1 PM to review the revised goals and policies for the Natural Resources Element. Meeting materials will be available in the agenda center.
Engagement Opportunities
Long Range Planning will be meeting with the Board and the Planning Commission for additional sessions in June and July to discuss the revised goals and policies for the 2025 Comprehensive Plan update. Elements will be discussed in the order that they listed on the website, under the “Draft Goals and Policies” tab. Public comment can be given at the beginning of Planning Commission meetings (Wednesdays at 6 pm) or Board Regular Sessions (Tuesdays starting at 10 am).
Future planned meeting dates include:
- July 1 Board of County Commissioners
- July 2 Board of County Commissioners
- July 9 Board of County Commissioners and Planning Commission
