John,

It’s been a few months since I last reached out to you, and Adam asked me to update you on what we’ve been working on in Congress, and why it’s so important we hold the House Majority come November, less than five months away.

It’s clear this election is the most important of our lifetimes. The very soul of our nation is at risk — we must ensure that Donald Trump is defeated and not allowed to tear down our country for another four years. And while we all look towards November, we have been working overtime in the House to hold Trump accountable, pass legislation For the People, and make real, lasting changes for the better.

The House has worked tirelessly to pass urgent, emergency relief for Americans in response to the devastating pandemic which has now taken more than 115,000 lives. The House has risen to the occasion, and provided direct financial assistance to millions of Americans, expanded unemployment relief, given loans to small-businesses, and increased the availability of coronavirus testing. And we’re demanding the Senate act with the urgency we all feel.

And even as we continue the battle against the Coronavirus, we are called upon to reform our criminal justice system and address the continued scourge of racism in our society. After the tragic and unjust deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless other Black Americans at the hands of police, millions of Americans have rightfully stood up and demanded transformative structural change, and Democrats in Congress are working to pass comprehensive legislation to create real reform and change when it comes to preventing police brutality and racial injustice in our country.

Whether it's pandemic relief, police reform, lowering prescription drug prices, strengthening voting rights, protecting the Affordable Care Act from continued Republican attacks, or holding this dangerous President accountable, this Democratic House has done an untold amount of good over the past two years – for the sake of our future, we cannot risk losing it.

We’re now less than five months away from the most historic elections in our lifetimes, John, and if we’re going to stop Trump and the GOP from stalling progress and forcing our country down a dangerous path, we simply must hold the House Democratic Majority, flip the Senate, and take back the White House so we can kick out Donald Trump.

Adam is someone that the Democratic Caucus and I have turned to for leadership and clarity during these times, and he has never let us down. He has held this out-of-control President accountable at every step. And he has been a huge source of support for Democrats running in competitive races this year, all while Adam himself faces a right-wing, ardently pro-Trump opponent in November who constantly takes to Fox News to lie about him and his record.
