"Let us be clear: this is an attempt at ethnic cleansing. Our unjust immigration laws have cemented an apartheid regime for immigrants. This is an attack on workers and organized labor. The Trump administration does not believe in the right of Los Angeles to exist as a multicultural, migrant, working-class city.
The cost of a single father, mother, sibling, or community member being ripped from our community is unimaginable. For the last few days, Los Angeles has been subject to immeasurable pain. We are proud of the way LA residents have chosen to unapologetically reject this regime of terror and fear. Many communities and families are safe in their homes today only because of the actions of brave Angelenos intervening to stop ICE."

3 ACTIONS TO TAKE THIS WEEK
Our city is under attack. Federal agents are conducting a series of raids all throughout Los Angeles, ripping families apart, and subjecting our community to horrific conditions in the Metro Detention Center. ICE is targeting members of our community– street vendors, day laborers, carwasheros and factory workers. This fascist onslaught against immigrants is an attack on the working class. It is of utmost importance that we, members of DSA, show up and come out for our immigrant neighbors.
Tuesday, June 17 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Under orders from the Trump administration, fascist ICE agents are conducting brutal raids across Los Angeles at our workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Join members of DSA-LA as we walk through Koreatown to do outreach to community businesses, and make sure they are informed about their legal rights and prepared to safeguard their workers from ICE raids.
Training and support provided to first time canvassers. RSVP for exact location.

Participants will also learn about the history of our organization and our chapter in particular, the current projects we’re working on, and how you can get involved. This is not a lecture, but a meeting for new and veteran organizers to ground ourselves in socialist theory and discuss together how we can put it into action. We’re excited to chat with you!

Don't Sign! Defend the Wage!
Saturday, June 21 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Sunday, June 22 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
This month, LA City Council finally passed the Living Wage Ordinance, which mandates that all tourism workers make at least $30 an hour wage. This wage increase is especially critical with the Olympics coming in a few years! But instead of paying their workers a living wage, hotel corporations are spending millions to mislead LA residents and repeal the Living Wage Ordinance with a petition. The greedy billionaires are circulating a petition to take away the $30 an hour wage for tourism workers that we just won at City Council. Don’t Sign! Defend the Wage!
In response, DSA-LA will be joining Unite HERE Local 11, SEIU-USWW, and LAANE to get out in the streets and block the Hotel Industry’s paid canvassers. We will be crowd canvassing at Farmer’s Markets, Metro Stops, and busy intersections to get in front of the paid canvassers and stop them from collecting signatures for their misleading petitions.
If you see someone collecting signatures, SAY SOMETHING! If you see signature gatherers in your community, call the Defend the Wage hotline: (909) 326-0042.
