Friends,
It’s been a busy week in Washington, and I want to share a few important updates on how I’ve been working to deliver results for our district.
The Energy and Commerce Committee held hearings on two major challenges: fixing broken air quality rules that are that are slowing down infrastructure projects, and boosting U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing so we aren’t dependent on countries like China for life-saving medicines. The EPA also announced that Texas has been granted primacy over Class VI wells—a win I’ve fought for over several years. This move enables our state to fast-track carbon capture projects, support energy innovation, and create well-paying jobs.
Additionally, I introduced the RIOT Act, which ensures that illegal immigrants and non-citizens who assault police officers or damage property during riots face serious consequences, including mandatory detention and deportation.
I want to take a moment to recognize two very special celebrations from this past weekend. First, the 250th birthday of the United States Army—I was proud to attend the parade and honor the brave men and women whose sacrifices have kept our nation free. Second, a heartfelt thank you to all the fathers in our community. Being a dad is one of life’s most important and rewarding roles. From one dad to another—thank you for all you do, and happy Father’s Day.
Sincerely,
|

“Non-citizen LA rioters could be deported under new House bill,” AOL News.
This week, AOL News published an article on my bill, the RIOT Act (H.R. 3859), making non-citizens—illegal immigrants, DACA recipients, and green card holders—subject to mandatory detention, deportation, and permanent inadmissibility if convicted of assaulting law enforcement or destroying public property during riots and emergencies. It details how this legislation addresses violent actions in recent Los Angeles riots and provides the federal government with tools to remove non-citizens who break the law during civil unrest. |

Human Events Daily with Jack Posobiec
This week, I chatted with Jack Posobiec about the recent riots in Los Angeles and why I introduced the RIOT Act. We discussed how violent non-citizens who assault law enforcement or destroy property during emergencies shouldn’t be allowed to remain in the country. We also talked about the growing threat of the cartels—how they’re fueling the fentanyl crisis and operating like militarized groups just across our border. These are serious challenges, but we’re not backing down, and my Republican colleagues and I are working to hold violent offenders accountable and to protect the safety and sovereignty of our country. |

E&C Hearing on National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) |
This week, the Environment Subcommittee held a hearing to discuss how outdated air quality rules, specifically the National Ambient Air Quality Standards, hinder the construction of important infrastructure projects nationwide. These strict standards delay permits for power plants, manufacturing facilities, and critical mineral projects, particularly in areas that need economic development. House Republicans are pushing for sensible reforms that ensure clean air while reducing bureaucratic obstacles, increasing American energy and manufacturing capabilities, and lessening our dependence on countries like China.

E&C Hearing about Medical Supply Chains
This week, the Energy and Commerce Committee held a hearing aimed at strengthening U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing and reducing our dangerous dependence on foreign countries, particularly China, for essential medicines and ingredients. I’m proud to report that our district is already leading by example. With significant private investments, such as Bionova’s $100 million facility in The Woodlands, along with advanced training programs at San Jacinto and Lone Star Colleges, we are developing the workforce and infrastructure necessary for long-term competitiveness. It is now essential that we advance this momentum nationwide by cutting regulatory red tape and prioritizing domestic pharmaceutical production as a critical national security issue. |

RIOT Act
This week, I introduced the RIOT Act (H.R. 3859) to ensure that violent non-citizens who assault law enforcement or destroy public property during riots face real consequences. My bill mandates deportation, permanent inadmissibility, and mandatory detention for non-citizens—including illegal immigrants, DACA recipients, and green card holders—convicted of these crimes during declared emergencies. America is a nation of laws, and if you’re here as a guest and choose to attack a police officer or riot in our streets, your time here is over. |

Texas Primacy for Class VI Wells
This week marks an important achievement for Texas and American energy policy. After years of advocating for our state to assume authority over Class VI well permitting, I’m pleased that the EPA has approved Texas’s application. This decision allows the Texas Railroad Commission to lead on carbon capture projects, reducing delays, creating jobs, and supporting emissions reductions through innovative technology. Texans are uniquely qualified to manage our energy resources, and this move reflects a productive partnership between state and federal governments. It represents a meaningful step toward strengthening America’s energy future, and I’m proud to have played a role in advancing this effort. |

"SITREP #18"
In this episode, I break down a shocking assassination attempt in Colombia, rising tensions as Iran’s nuclear ambitions push the Middle East to the brink, and major moves by the Trump Administration—including a new deal with China, a shake-up at the CDC, and a crackdown on so-called “mostly peaceful protests.” All that and more, in just 12 minutes. |

"Dr. Condoleezza Rice on the Perils of the 21st Century"
Civic knowledge in America is declining. AI is rapidly advancing. And the Iran-Russia-China alliance is pushing the world closer to the brink of global war. Dr. Condoleezza Rice joined me for a frank conversation about the greatest threats to the future of Western Civilization—and how Stanford’s Hoover Institution is working to confront them.
Dr. Condoleezza Rice is the Director of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and served as the 66th U.S. Secretary of State (2005–2009) and National Security Advisor (2001–2005) to President George W. Bush.
