Archie spent four years neglected and tethered in a backyard. There, he was bitten by an infected sandfly that gave him a deadly disease called leishmaniasis. This disease attacks organs, skin, and eyes if left untreated. He needed specialized bloodwork, injections, and supplements to treat his illness.
