Dear John
Church Action on Poverty would like to share this message from Mary Passeri and Sydnie Corley - two of the disabled activists who are leading our campaign against the harmful and immoral cuts that are being planned to disability benefits:
“We need everybody possible to contact their MP and lobby them hard to vote against the cuts to disability benefits. We've had some difficult meetings but we had a very positive meeting recently with Rachael Maskell, the MP for York Central, who's absolutely against these cuts. We hope that everybody would contact their MPs and make our voices heard.
“We really appreciate the support we’ve already received. [Over 300 Church Action on Poverty supporters emailed their MPs earlier this year.] We've had lots of positive feedback online for what we've been doing - so please get involved, please help. We need you.”
More and more MPs are opposing these immoral cuts. Today, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty joined in condemning the cuts. The chair of the APPG said, “It’s very clear that if this goes ahead, the wider cost to society will be bigger than any money they save.”
Please help Mary and Sydnie to make their voices heard - email your MP now and ask them to speak out against the cuts.
