Last Week

Last week, the Senate confirmed five of President Donald Trump’s nominees:

  • Brett Shumate to be an Assistant Attorney General (51-41);

  • David Fotouhi to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (53-41);

  • Stephen Vaden to be Deputy Secretary of Agriculture (51-44);

  • Andrew Hughes to be Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (51-43);

  • William Long to be Commissioner of Internal Revenue (53-44).

The Senate also voted (67-27) to end debate on Sen. Bill Hagerty’s (R-TN) GENIUS Act, which would establish a regulatory framework for certain digital assets. The Senate could finally pass this long-overdue bill as soon as this week.

Conservative Spotlight

ERIC SCHMITT — Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) is digging deeper into the Big Biden Coup. Last week, he created an anonymous tip line for witnesses who saw Biden’s White House staff cover up the former president’s mental incapacity. The email address is: [email protected]. If Schmitt’s hotline unearths more evidence, it will trigger future oversight hearings.

ROGER MARSHALL — Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) attended Saturday’s big parade in Washington celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday! Dr. Marshall, an Army Reserve veteran, greeted troops from Fort Riley in his home state. He spoke with Fox News about the parade, the Army, and President Trump.

ASHLEY MOODY — Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) is all-in on the fight against illegal immigration. Last week, she introduced three different bills to help take back our streets from Biden’s migrant invasion. One would tighten federal tracking of apprehended migrants. Another would expand federal reimbursement to state and local police who help enforce our immigration laws. And the third — cosponsored with Sens. Marsha Blackburn, Ted Cruz, and Ted Budd — would streamline deportation proceedings.

MIKE LEE — Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) introduced a resolution condemning former FBI Director James Comey for his recent social media threat against President Trump. As you may recall, Comey — the disgraced architect of the Russia Hoax — recently posted “86 47” on Instagram. That’s online woke code for eliminating a commander-in-chief who has already survived two assassination attempts! Lee is absolutely right. Look around. Left-wing violence is ravaging American cities across the country. It’s long past time to hold Democrat elites accountable for their incitement of it.

This Week

The Senate has a short week ahead due to the Juneteenth holiday on Thursday. Only one vote is scheduled for Gary Andres’s nomination as Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services. Other nominations — and potentially a vote on the GENIUS Act—could also be scheduled.

This week, the Senate Finance Committee will release its revised version of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” That will give us a glimpse of which tax cuts Senate Republicans plan to prioritize in the upcoming debate.
