Happy Pride, John!

This weekend at Motor City Pride, I walked alongside families, activists, organizers, drag artists, and proud LGBTQ+ Michiganders of every age.

I saw joy, resilience, and fierce love. I also saw what’s at stake.

Too many people in this country still live in fear of losing their rights — to love who they love, to access health care, including gender-affirming care, or to simply exist as their authentic selves.

That’s why I’m fighting like hell to build a future where everyone is free to live with safety, dignity, and pride.

To me, Pride reinforces the importance of electing more LGBTQ+ leaders and allies at every level of government. We need leaders who will defend civil rights, protect trans kids from hateful legislation, and ensure that reproductive freedom includes everybody.
