And even when it gets worse...you get stronger." - Jen Richards Last year, we were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York — a foundational moment of the LGBTQ+ community’s fight for equality and acceptance. This year, we have been reminded that there is so much more to be done. But, younger generations are taking on the challenges that those who came before them were unable to overcome. Eyes have been opened, and the fight for racial justice builds momentum. We can’t imagine a better time to honor the spirit of Pride, and the powerful Black voices, like Marsha P. Johnson, that gave rise to the movement -- and the leaders of today who continue to push us forward. Progress is not linear, but progress is inevitable when we stick together and fight for the right to exist in spite of our differences. This Pride season, take a moment to reflect on where we are as a community, and then imagine what our world could look like if we were free to live equally and fully understood our power and worthiness as individuals. Be good to yourself and remember, we are here, we are queer, and we are never alone. Happy Pride! June 24-26 - It Gets Better: |
