Dear,

Ryan Twyman was just 24 years old when Los Angeles police fired 34 shots
into his car last June, killing the unarmed Black man.(1)

The father of three was one of 608 people who have lost their lives to
police since District Attorney Jackie Lacey took office in 2013.(2) He was
one of the four people Los Angeles police killed that day.(3)

Today, every single cop responsible for those killings walks free, due to
Jackie Lacey.

Courage California is teaming up with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles to
run a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times calling out Lacey for not
prosecuting killer cops and not providing justice for the community. Then
we're kicking off a campaign to make sure she is defeated in November.

[ [link removed] ]Our plan isn't cheap, but it is what's needed to get justice for the
people who have lost their lives to the police while Jackie Lacey does
nothing. Will you donate $5 to help fully fund our plan with
Black Lives Matter to demand that DA Jackie Lacey be held accountable?

Despite public calls for a formal investigation into the police who killed
Ryan Twyman, Lacey still refuses to prosecute.(4)

She has given killer cops a pass on the murders of Anthony Weber. Kisha
Michael. Grechario Mack. Albert Ramon Dorsey. Lacey even declined to
prosecute for the murder of Brendon Glenn, despite the Los Angeles chief
of police calling for the officer involved to be charged!(5)

The district attorney's dereliction of duty has contributed to the Los
Angeles Police Department turning into one of the most violent police
forces in the country.

That violence has been on full display during Black Lives Matter protests
over the last two weeks, as L.A. police have beaten protesters, shot them
with rubber bullets, driven their cars into groups of pedestrians, tear
gassed and pepper sprayed crowds, and used excessive force on hundreds of
people -- while Lacey does nothing.(6)

Los Angeles is the second largest city in the country, and it's
unconscionable that its residents are suffering under an out-of-control
police force. It's time for Jackie Lacey to go. But law enforcement unions
in Los Angeles don't want to lose her, so they have contributed more than
$2 million to the effort keep her in office.(7)

Black Lives Matter-Los Angeles, Courage California, and a coalition of
organizers have been working for years to shine a light on Lacey’s
terrible job performance. Now is the perfect moment to hold her
accountable and get justice.

With your help, we're going let the two million readers of the Los Angeles
Times know just how dangerous Lacey is to the Black community by running a
full-page ad calling her out for allowing killer cops to walk the streets
of Los Angeles. And we're going to run digital ads from now until Election
Day to keep reminding Los Angeles that we need a new district attorney,
while supporting Black Lives Matter Los Angeles' work.

It's an ambitious plan, and we need to raise $29,450 to get our ad running
and take on the pro-police money. Will you donate to stand in solidarity
with Black Lives Matter and stop Jackie Lacey from letting killer cops
walk free?

[ [link removed] ]Yes, I’ll donate to help demand justice for the people of Los Angeles
and stop Jackie Lacey. Every dollar we raise over our ad cost will be
split with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles.

Yours in the fight for our democracy,

Molly, along with Angela, Anne, Brian, Caitlin, Deepthi, Gabby, Irene,
Jay, Lindsay, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
