Things Are Not Going Well for Amy McGrath
Whatever momentum McGrath may have been capable of generating, she stifled. Her Senate run is riddled with embarrassments. She said she would have voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh — a no-go area even for many conservative Democrats — before reversing herself in response to outrage. Kentucky Democratic Senate primary heating up in home stretch
Suddenly, it appears to be a real race as Democrats choose who they want to face Sen. Mitch McConnell this fall. The front-runner in the primary race, former Marine fighter pilot Amy McGrath, is trying to fight off a young state lawmaker from west Louisville as the campaign hits the home stretch. In fact, Booker accuses his main rival, McGrath, of not being a real Democrat. “People are moving away from the big money candidate,” he said. “I don't know what a Pro-Trump Democrat is.”

Prominent Kentucky Dem backs Booker over McGrath in bid to oust McConnell
Her show of support for Booker, a state representative, adds another boost to his insurgent primary campaign against Amy McGrath, the former fighter pilot who became a darling of the Democratic Party during her failed 2018 House bid. Booker has also been backed by leading progressives, including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), and has secured the endorsement of Kentucky’s two largest newspapers.
